The six changes Newcastle United fans would like Steve Bruce to make at Arsenal

Newcastle United should line up in a 4-4-2 formation and partner Andy Carroll and Callum Wilson in attack at Arsenal.

That's the view of Magpies supporters who would like to see Steve Bruce make six changes in Monday night's clash at the Emirates Stadium.

United suffered defeat in extra time in their recent trip to the capital to face Mikel Arteta's side. The visitors squandered late opportunities in an improved second-half display, and goals from Emile Smith Rowe and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang booked the Gunners' spot in the fourth round.

However, the dismal midweek defeat at basement side Sheffield United has ramped up the pressure on Magpies head coach Steve Bruce.

Newcastle's winless run now stands at eight matches, and fans and pundits alike fear the club have now been dragged into the relegation battle.

Bruce has warned changes are likely following the 'absolutely hopeless' performance at Bramall Lane, with Ryan Fraser (suspension) and Federico Fernandez (injury) expected to miss out.

Captain Jamaal Lascelles is back in contention, but the latest clash has likely come too soon for Allan Saint-Maximin who has only just returned to light training.

Bearing this in mind, Magpies supporters would like to see Bruce abandon the back five and implement a more positive 4-4-2 at Arsenal.

Karl Darlow keeps his place in goal, and Jamal Lewis and Lascelles are recalled into defence alongside Ciaran Clark and DeAndre Yedlin.

Matty Longstaff returns into midfield after his impressive festive showings to partner Isaac Hayden. Jacob Murphy and Matt Ritchie also earn recalls to provide the width, while Carroll is tasked with supporting Wilson up front.
