When Kahlen’s ship capsizes due to Sirens, she is pulled to her death, and a new life; when Kahlen realises she doesn’t want to die that way, she is chosen by the Ocean to become part of the sisterhood of sirens.
The writing is incredibly soothing and flowing, perfect for when you get in a reading slump, because it is fast-paced and also makes you see the value in life and the misery of death. However I found that towards the end of the book there was lots of religion in the actions. The ending was also predictable, even though it was probably meant to be a twist!
However it made a nice, peaceful read and I would recommend it to pre-teens and teens, since the writing was a little simple!
