The Simpsons 'predicted' Kamala Harris' vice-presidency after eerie Tom Hanks theory

Simpsons fans are at it again - and this time they reckon the animated hit predicted the vice-presidency of Kamala Harris.

Mrs Harris was yesterday sworn in as vice-president of the United States, the first woman to ever hold the post, while Joe Biden was inaugurated as president after beating Donald Trump in November's election.

The Simpsons has gained a reputation as a Nostradamus type in the past, after joking about a potential Trump presidency 15 years before he announced he was running.

The announcement that Tom Hanks would be taking part in yesterday's inauguration reignited the theories, fans joking the show writers knew the US government would bring in the actor to calm things down at a time of political turmoil.

And now Mrs Harris' inauguration outfit - which seemed strangely familiar - has seen yet another theory churned out.

The same episode that "predicted" a Trump presidency sees a future version of Lisa run for - and win - the White House.

Lisa's get-up during her scenes in the Oval Office in very reminiscent of Mrs Harris' down to the purple jacket, pearl necklace and earrings.

And though Lisa was president and Mrs Harris is vice-president, the similarities were enough to breathe new life into the fan theories.

"Kamala Harris really is Lisa Simpson and I'm all for it," one wrote.

Another pointed out that Lisa ousts President Trump and their outfits, tweeting: "Yeah, everything that ever will be has been done on the Simpsons, but this is a bit on the nose."

Another tagged Mrs Harris and joked: @KamalaHarris cosplayed as Lisa Simpson for the inauguration."

"Kamala out there reppin Lisa Simspon," a fourth laughed.

The Simpsons has been running since 1989, and is currently on its 32nd series.

Meanwhile, Trump yesterday became the first president in more than a century to refuse to attend his successor's inauguration.

Instead, he flew to Florida, while his vice-president Mike Pence attended in Washington DC.
