The Simpsons renewed for two more seasons

The Simpsons has been renewed by Fox for seasons 31 and 32, which will see the animated series top 713 episodes.

“Woo hoo! 32 Seasons!” Homer Simpson said in a statement. “Watch your back Meet the Press.”

Meet the Press, the hourlong Sunday morning public affairs program, has reached 70 seasons, making it the longest-running TV series in US history.

The Simpsons, however, already has the badge of being longest-running scripted prime-time series, beating the classic western Gunsmoke in April 2018.

The animated series, set in the fictional town on Springfield, originated from a series of animated shorts on The Tracey Ullman Show in April 1987, before being developed into a standalone series in December 1989, becoming one of Fox’s greatest hits.

Although ratings have dropped in recent years, the show still brings in between three and eight million viewers per episode.
