The Simpsons 'predicted' Tom Hanks' inauguration special over a decade earlier

The Simpsons writers have been at it again, claim fans of the show, who have pointed to an episode in which Tom Hanks hosts a special show on Inauguration Day.

Not only is the 64-year-old Hollywood legend presenting the event, he is doing so in the cartoon after unrest had descended upon the United States.

It has become a running theme that the The Simpsons have played Nostradamus and this time it was there movie in 2007 that cast Tom as the calming voice to bring down the raging in America.

In real life, Tom was hosting Celebrating America on primetime, as Joe Biden's Inauguration Day was brought to a close by a number of musical heroes, who sang songs of renewed hope in the United States after the tumultuous Trump years.

In the movie, Tom addresses the public in a moment of "national chaos.”

In a cameo appearance in the film, Tom says: "The US government has lost its credibility, so it's borrowing some of mine."

The setting seemed remarkably similar to Tom hosting Celebrating America and it wasn't long until Twitter was flooded by fans pointing out the similarities.
