The significant shift in Championship promotion odds as Swansea City and Bournemouth hold advantage over Barnsley and Brentford

Swansea City and Bournemouth both take slender one-goal leads into the second legs of their respective Championship play-off semi-finals this weekend.

The Swans defeated Barnsley 1-0 at Oakwell while the Cherries beat Brentford by the same margin at The Vitality Stadium on Monday night.

And at the midway point of the second tier play-off fixtures, the promotion odds have shifted significantly.

Prior to the first leg contests, Swansea were the 4/1 outsiders to go up according to The Pools while Brentford were the 7/4 favourites.

However, Bournemouth and Brentford are now the 2/1 joint-favourites to be promoted ahead of Swansea, who are now as short as 5/2 with Sky Bet to be playing Premier League football next season.

Barnsley have drifted out to 6/1 to be promoted having previously been the 7/2 third-favourites.

Swansea take on Barnsley in the second leg at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday. Kick-off is at 6:30pm.

The other semi-final contest between Brentford and Bournemouth culminates at the Brentford Community Stadium. Kick-off in that fixture is at 12:30pm.

Championship promotion odds

Bournemouth 2/1

Brentford 2/1

Swansea City 5/2

Barnsley 6/1
