The 'shocking statistic' that could pile huge pressure on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Manchester United

Manchester United have been told they have no chance of winning the Premier League title with just 11 games played.

Having finished as runners-up to Manchester City last season, key figures in the Old Trafford boardroom sanctioned three major signings during the summer transfer window - with Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and five-time Ballon d'Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo all touching down.

However, for the second time in less than two weeks, United were humbled by genuine Premier League contenders.

With the dust yet to settle on that heavy and humiliating Liverpool reverse, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his team saw their title credentials suffer another hammer blow at the same venue.

An own goal from Eric Bailly and a smart finish by Bernardo Silva settled the scores for City as their neighbours now find themselves nine points behind table-topping Chelsea.

United were spared an 11-point cushion by plucky Burnley, who later came from behind to draw at Stamford Bridge.

Speaking on BT Sport, pundit Savage said: "The worrying thing for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is that Manchester United, at the beginning of November, can't win the Premier League. That is a shocking statistic.

"I mean, obviously they can... but they're not going to. They are miles off it.

"Yeah I thought [they could] with the signings - Varane, Sancho and Ronaldo. You have got to say for Manchester United Football Club to be in this position... playing their two big rivals, Liverpool and City, conceding seven, not scoring a goal.

"At no point today did we think United could get anything out of that game."
