The squad numbers available to new West Ham transfers as David Moyes plots overhaul

West Ham manager David Moyes has identified bolstering the backline as his priority in the summer transfer window as he attempts to bring some stability to east London.

West Ham shipped an alarming amount of goals again this season, 62 in total, as they survived relegation in the penultimate match of the season by securing a point against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Moyes has been linked with moves for Antonee Robinson, Matty Cash, Ryan Manning, Gonzalo Montiel and others though looks like losing out on Robinson to Sheffield United, who are close to sealing a £2million switch for the left back.

Moyes also is keen to sign QPR star Eberechi Eze this summer though he will need to sell first before he can find the cash to make a move. Crystal Palace also want to sign Eze and have had a tentative £12million bid knocked back by Rangers.

Manuel Lanzini and Felipe Anderson are two players the Hammers are looking to move on but as of yet have received no interest in the pair. Albian Ajeti still looks likely to move to Celtic although the Swiss striker has certainly been taking his time over deciding if the move is right for him.

There could be other numbers available later this consumer if the Hammers decide to dispense with the services of some of their players as Moyes plans a rebuild.

Moyes doesn’t yet know what kind of budget he will have to play with this summer amid the club injecting £30million into its coffers to keep full time employees off the Government furlough scheme during the coronavirus pandemic.

But there is a general expectation the manager will have to sell if he wants to raise serious funds to try and rebuild the squad after the legacy of Manuel Pellegrini’s expensive 18 months in charge of the club.

The club has already spent £19million on the permanent signing of Tomas Soucek from Slavia Prague at the end of his six month loan deal which will eat into the summer budget.
