Gedson Fernandes has become Jose Mourinho's first signing as Tottenham Hotspur head coach
The 21-year-old Portuguese midfielder arrived in London for a medical with Spurs ahead of an 18-month loan move from Benfica earlier in the week.
And on Wednesday morning - less than 24 hours after the Lilywhites beat Middlesbrough in the FA Cup third round replay - the loan deal was made official via the club's website .
The loan deal will have an option to buy at the end of it, with the Portuguese side demanding a fee in the region of £47milion next summer for his permanent transfer.
It has also been confirmed that Fernandes will wear the no.30 shirt.
This squad number hasn't been worn since the 2016/17 season when Paul Lopez was at the club and it's a number which has been worn by the likes of Sandro and Anthony Gardner in the Premier League era.
Fernandes' arrival comes at a time when Spurs have been stretched in central midfield.
Spurs have injury concerns in the middle of the park, with Moussa Sissoko out until April after sustaining a media collateral ligament injury in his knee.
Tanguy Ndombele is also out of action at the moment with a hip injury, leaving Mourinho short of options in the two in front of the defence.
The 21-year-old, who has two senior international caps for Portugal, has spent his entire career in his home country so far, but he has spoken of his delight at making the move to the Premier League with Tottenham.
"I'm very happy to be here today - I make my dream a reality," he told Spurs' official website , after signing his loan deal.
"For me, it's one big dream to come to this big club.
"I will try to give my best for the club every day, in every training session and in every game and I will try to help the team wherever I can, working hard every day for this shirt."
