
The pine trees of Kenrokuen garden -- regarded as one of the nation's three most beautiful gardens -- are illuminated in Kanazawa on Friday. The illumination creates an enchanting atmosphere, brightening the trees, leaves and branches tied with ropes to protect them from being weighed down by snow, even though there has been no snow due to this season's unusually mild weather. Kenrokuen will be illuminated from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. daily through Feb. 2 and from Feb. 8-16.
