The sheep walking experience in the valleys to top your Welsh bucket list

Whatever is on the top of your Welsh bucket list, a new entry has raced to the top - taking sheep for a walk!

Inspired by the more popular Alpaca walking, Duffryn Sheep Walking is a business run by sisters Caroline Perkins, 24 and Kate Perkins, 12, which offers what it says on the tin.

Caroline explained they’ve always had friendly animals on the farm which made it easy to start.

She said: “We’ve had people come up to us at shows saying how great the sheep were. Putting that and inspiration from alpaca walking together, we founded sheep walking! It’s an extension of the farm.”

The website describes fun for all the family with openings every weekend with a booking required.

Walks take around an hour, and begin by matching you with one of the sheep and the cost includes treats to feed your sheep and opportunities to stop and take pictures.

There is also the option of buying a spectators ticket, where you can walk around without a sheep for those that prefer not to get too close.

Tickets range from £5 to £16 but children under four can go for free.

The nine sheep are named and can be viewed on the website along with a short description of their personalities and how they like being petted. Some of the sheep are so close they have to be walked in pairs.

Two of the new arrivals are called Nessa and Stacey in a nod to Gavin and Stacey.

Once returned, you can feed, stroke and take pictures with the other farmyard animals which include donkeys, goats, cattle, chickens and ducks.

Reviews on Facebook gush about the friendliness of the staff. If you fancy a walk with Arlo, Caspar, Morgan, Jake, Johnny, Nessa, Stacey, Blaze or Spot the sheep, you can find more information here .
