The seven players Leeds United will be without for Premier League clash with Arsenal

Leeds United are set to be without seven first-team players on Saturday when Arsenal visit Elland Road for the late kick-off.

The Gunners will be looking to make it three wins in a row when they travel to Yorkshire for the clash and they look set to be aided by an injury crisis that has taken a hold of their opponents.

After their impressive first season back in the top-flight, Leeds have hit a rocky patch, currently sat in 16th place and just five points ahead of Burnley, who occupy the final spot in the relegation zone.

Some have speculated that it is due to Marcelo Bielsa's style of football being sussed out by their opponents but it is hard to believe that the huge number of injuries is not the cause.

"[Jamie] Shackleton and [Daniel] James are out. [Robin] Koch is available. That's the novelties," Bielsa told his pre-match press conference, as reported by Leeds Live.

"Shackleton has a problem in his Achilles tendon. James has a problem in his adductor muscles."

Both Shackleton and James picked up their injuries as the Whites were hammered 7-0 by Manchester City at the Etihad on Tuesday night.

Not only are the injuries to Leeds players plentiful, they are nearly all to key first-team players in Bielsa's side.

England internationals Kalvin Phillips and Patrick Bamford were both missing in midweek with hamstring injuries while club captain Liam Cooper is suffering a similar issue.

Rodrigo looks likely to miss out with bilateral heal pain and centre-back Pascal Struijk will also be sidelined after suffering a bizarre foot injury in training.

Fan favourite Luke Ayling remains touch and go but could well return against Arsenal after coming through 45 minutes with the under-23s this week.

Meanwhile, the only serious injury concerns for Mikel Arteta are to Bernd Leno and Sead Kolasinac as the Gunners look to cement their place in the top-four.
