The seven changes Newcastle United fans would like Steve Bruce to make for Sheffield United clash

Newcastle United should adopt a 4-4-2 formation and partner Andy Carroll with Callum Wilson in attack for tonight's trip to Sheffield United.

That's the view of Magpies supporters, who would like head coach Steve Bruce to make seven changes from the side who suffered an extra-time defeat in the FA Cup at Arsenal.

United spurned several chances to snatch a surprise victory at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday night, and were punished by late strikes from Emile Smith Rowe and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

It was a rotated line-up in the capital for the Magpies, and Bruce has indicated he could refresh his squad with up to five changes at Bramall Lane.

Allan Saint-Maximin remains absent as he continues to recover from Covid-19, while Ryan Fraser is still unavailable for selection.

Sheffield United are yet to record a Premier League victory so far this season, but will be hoping to pick up their second straight win following their FA Cup third-round success at Bristol Rovers.

In contrast, the Magpies will be hoping to end a run of seven matches without a win, and increase their eight-point cushion over the relegation zone.

Bearing this all in mind, supporters would like to see Bruce ditch the back five and make seven changes from their last outing.

Karl Darlow replaces Martin Dubravka in goal, and DeAndre Yedlin and Federico Fernandez come into the back four alongside Ciaran Clark and Paul Dummett.

Matty Longstaff replaces his brother Sean in the heart of midfield alongside Isaac Hayden, while Jacob Murphy and Matt Ritchie are tasked with providing the width.

Carroll keep his place up front and is partnered with top scorer Wilson, meaning Miguel Almiron and Joelinton are forced to settle for spots on the bench.
