The secret stat behind Aston Villa, Norwich City and Leeds United's Championship success this season

A mark of a top team is their ability to recover and come back from a losing position.

So it comes as no surprise that five clubs inside the final top six in the Championship this season also finished the campaign with the most points from comeback performances.

Only promoted Sheffield United were not included, sitting 13th in the comeback table instead, clearly showing another strength, that they regularly went ahead and stayed ahead.

Forget Tomas Kalas, Jay Dasilva or that £15m striker, this is who Bristol City's first major summer signing should be

The Blades were replaced in the top six of the comeback table by brave Bristol City who fell just short of making the real play-offs to sit in eighth after the final set of games on Sunday.

In the comeback league Aston Villa earned five points more than any other side whilst trailing a match. According to Transfermarkt's findings, they fought back 17 out of a possible 26 times to earn 29 points, that without, they would have finished just five points above the bottom four.

Sheffield Wednesday, Blackburn Rovers, Stoke City and Bolton Wanderers were the only teams not to win a game this season from losing positions.
