I was given this beautiful classic as a present. I was totally astounded by the authors beautiful poetic language throughout the novel.
The story line is very moving at times and the main character (Mary Lennox) is a very interesting colourful character. She is a plain, bad tempered stubborn child who grew up in India but when her parents decided they didn’t want her, she was moved to Mislewait Mannor with her uncle.
At first, she cannot adjust to her new life, where she must do everything herself, but then she finds crippled Colin and kind hearted, country boy Dickon she goes on an adventure to make her think that Misthwait Mannor is a lot more interesting than she ever imagined…
All in all, this a great vintage classic, which although at the beginning is very slow moving and long, is a really unputdownable gem of a book!
