The seafront bench with a hedge blocking its view that you can't even sit on anymore

A seafront bench which should have a stunning view of Swansea Bay is covered by a hedge making it very hard to sit on.

There have been problems with this particular bench by the mini roundabout linking Mumbles Road and Newton Road for a while.

In June 2019, the hedge was blocking the view but you were still able to sit down at this popular spot.

However, one year on and the situation hasn't improved.

If you took away the hedge, this bench would have a direct view out over the sea.

Last year, Swansea Council said the bench was installed long before the area was landscaped in its current form, but that it still provided a rest spot for the public.

However, the council has said that work is now scheduled to be completed in the area to cutback some of the overgrowth.

A spokesman for Swansea council said: "Since the coronavirus outbreak, council staff have been required to take on new roles to assist the public with critical services.

"Minor work such as pruning hedges has largely taken a backseat while we make sure residents can access vital services such as foodbanks.

"Work is now scheduled to be completed in the area to cutback some of the overgrowth, enabling the public to use the bench in question.

"We are confident many residents and visitors to Mumbles have still been able to enjoy the wonderful views of the bay while this bench has been out of action."
