The Scottish Indian restaurant with haggis pakoras and 'Irn-Bru Negroni' heading to Urmston

Roti, the Scottish-Indian restaurant which mashes up Scots and Indian cuisine with its unique fusion menu, is heading to Urmston. It’ll be setting up shop on Flixton Road, bringing with it its haggis pakoras and signature Irn-Bru Negroni.

Edinburgh-born owner Ryan Singh already has a branch of Roti at the Stanley Square development in Sale. There, it has introduced a wealth of quirky dishes blending the dual heritages.

So while there are recognisable favourites like a tarka daal, samosa chaat and sheekh kebabs, there are also dishes like the haggis pakora, ‘mince & tatties’ (spice pork mince with chole potatoes), and ‘wee poori parcels’, crisp, hollowed puris filled with yoghurt, chilli, tamarind chutney and masala spices.

There are also Roti-style ‘chip butties’, an Indian-style Scotch Egg and a ‘sausage supper’, comprising spiced, battered sausages, masala potatoes and Edinburgh-style ‘salt and sauce’ - brown sauce, salt and vinegar.

There are also a selection of cocktails, IPAs, and for pudding, the spot’s take on the famous Scottish chip shop pudding, the deep fried Mars bar, with ice cream.

Prior to opening in Urmston, there was a Roti site in Chorlton, which opened in 2019, but closed again in January. Owners said at the time: “Our time in Chorlton has come to an end for now. We'd like to thank each and every one of you who visited and supported us over the past 2.5 years especially during the harder times.

"We have decided not to extend our lease in Chorlton, focus on Sale during this tough time and look to open a new site when the time is right. And who knows...we may return! Take care Chorlton."
