The Scott Brown Celtic 'light switch' that makes Hoops skipper the perfect modern captain

Aberdeen midfielder Dylan McGeouch has described Scott Brown as the best skipper of his career.

McGeouch, 27, played under the Nine In A Row winner as he was coming up through the ranks at Parkhead.

He believes most punters see Brown as the man with the thousand-yard stare in the Celtic tunnel and a tough attitude on the pitch but off it the Dons playmaker believes he's "one of the good guys" in football.

And his approach as a leader in the dressing room is a prime example of what McGeouch believes to be a leader in the dressing room with his 'teammates-first' approach.

Speaking on the What the Falk podcast, McGeouch said: “I think Broony is probably the best captain I’ve played under by far.

“He’s everything you’d want from a captain to be honest. He’s obviously a winner, he’s won everything for many years, he’s always there, he’s always fit.

“But even away from football, he’s one of the best guys you’ll meet in football off the pitch.

“He’s everybody’s best mate, always up for a laugh, everything about him.

“All for the boys, if you need something he’ll go and fight your corner, anything. I think he’s the modern-day captain, to be honest.

“He’s really focused, you see him before the games on the camera. It’s like a light switch, he’s full of carry on before the game then it gets to the warm-up and that’s him. He’s in the zone, and you can see it.

“He gets the best out of the boys around him. I’m still good mates with Broony, I still speak to him and stuff like that. He’s a great guy.

“Obviously he’s doing really well and he’s played for X amount of years at the top level.

“It’s a credit to him as a guy and a player."

McGeouch left Parkhead to join Hibs in the Championship in 2015.

He'd miss out on promotion to the Scottish Premiership but Alan Stubbs' squad clinched the Scottish Cup that season to end a 114-year wait.

And despite leaving Glasgow five years ago, McGeouch revealed Brown is still a phone call away to lend advice.

He added: “If I picked up the phone he would always answer. He’s a top guy.

“He’s not one of those ones once you leave a club they won’t speak to you again.

“We still come in contact with each other, not as much now because it’s been a few years but still if I picked up the phone he’d be happy to pick it up and listen and give advice.

“He’s a top guy I couldn’t speak highly enough of him and I think everybody that knows Broony will say the same things. He’s one of the good guys in football."
