The schools in Salford that have closed due to coronavirus

Salford council has released a list of schools in the borough that are either fully or partially closed today.

Salford council's website added: "Each school has their own procedures for notifying parents of a school closure, including the use of a text messaging service that will notify parents if a school will be closing."

"If you need to know the latest situation you should contact the  relevant school  via telephone to listen to a automated message which will keep you updated of the situation.

"Details of emergency school closures and openings will also be aired on local radio stations. Schools have also been given access to update this page with any closure details."

Primary schools

  • Holy Family Catholic Primary School
    Closed from Tuesday 17 March 2020 to Friday 20 March 2020
    Closure reason: Partial Closure of school - Two classes Nursery and Reception. Closure due to staffing issues, further advice will be given at the end of the week.
  • St Andrew's CE Primary School (Eccles)
    Closed from Tuesday 17 March 2020 to Monday 20 April 2020
    Closure reason: Nursery and Reception only due to number of staff self isolating
  • The Cathedral School of St Peter and St John RC
    Closed from Wednesday 18 March 2020 to Friday 20 March 2020
    Closure reason: Partial closure - nursery class only - Insufficient Staffing

Secondary schools

  • Harrop Fold School
    Closed on Tuesday 17 March 2020
    Closure reason: Closed for Y9 and Y10. Other years to attend as normal until further notice.

Pupil referral units

  • Alder Brook Primary Partnership Centre
    Closed on Tuesday 17 March 2020
    Closure reason: Partial closure of school. Two classes Cherry and Oak for one day on Tuesday 17th March. Closure due to staffing issues following new guidance given today.
  • The New Broadwalk - PRU
    Closed from Tuesday 17 March 2020 to Friday 20 March 2020
    Closure reason: The school will close from 12pm today, 17th March 2020, until Friday 20th March 2020 for a deep clean. It is intended The New Broadwalk will re-open on Monday 23rd March 2020.

Special schools

Chatsworth High School
Closed on Tuesday 17 March 2020
Closure reason: We have decided to close Chatsworth High School and Community College, Chatsworth Futures and Chatsworth Engage with effect from 3.30pm on Tuesday 17th March 2020. This is in response to the numbers of staff self-isolating following the latest governmental advice. We continue to work with the Local Authority and will update this message in due course.
