The school which offers the best 'property price per GCSE point'

Parents looking to get their children a good education on the cheap should move closer to King Edward VI Handsworth School in Birmingham, according to new research.

The girls’ grammar school offers the best “property price per GCSE point” in the country, research by the estate agents emoov.co.uk claims.

The average house price in the school’s catchment is just £107,305, with pupils securing an average of GCSE score of 588.9 (assuming 58 points for an A*, 52 points for an A, 46 for a B, etc). This gives a “property price per GCSE point” of £595. In comparison, homes in catchment areas around some London schools work out at more than £1,200 per GCSE point.

The other schools making the top five were: The Blue Coat School, Liverpool; King Edward VI Five Ways School, Birmingham; Thomas Telford School, Telford and Devonport High School for Girls, Plymouth.

This year’s GCSE results are published early on 20 August.
