The School for Good and Evil first look as stars start filming in Belfast

The director of the new Netflix movie which is being filmed in Belfast gave the first sneak peek of its stars on set.

Paul Feig, who directed smash-hit Bridesmaids, is in Northern Ireland as work gets underway for Netflix film The School for Good and Evil.

Starring Charlize Theron, Laurence Fishburne and Kerry Washington, the movie is based on a best-selling series of young adult fantasy novels by Soman Chainani.

It is being filmed at Belfast Harbour Studios and on Tuesday, Paul shared an image of himself with stars Kerry and Charlize in full costume as Lady Lesso and Professor Dovey, giving fans a taste of what's to come.

He wrote: "First look at Lady Lesso and Professor Dovey of the #SchoolForGoodAndEvil, apparently hanging with the swing choir teacher of good and evil. Everyday with these two awesome powerhouses is a true joy. #solucky #timeofmylife."

Writing underneath the post, Kerry added: "This crew, thank you for being such a delight."

Kerry also shared an image of herself in full costume as Professor Dovey writing "More GOODness to come" and Charlize another as Lady Lesso adding: "Ain’t no rest for the EVIL. Can’t wait for you all to meet Lady Lesso."

It follows a group of girls and boys who are taken to an institution and trained to become fairy tale-like heroes and villains.

It is understood the production will be in Northern Ireland for at least 20 weeks and Northern Ireland Screen estimates that it will generate investment of approximately £30million with around 500 NI-resident crew working on the film.

Richard Williams, CEO of Northern Ireland Screen, said: "Netflix is the world’s largest subscription streaming service with millions of subscribers worldwide and an outstanding track record for offering very high quality, original programming.

"For a global player like this to choose Belfast as its base is a real vote of confidence in Northern Ireland’s screen industry and further cements our reputation as a leading centre for film and television production."
