The scene of devastation following horror BMW crash in Salford that claimed a woman's life and left a man seriously injured

This is the scene of devastation following a horror crash in Salford that claimed the life of a woman and left a man seriously hurt.

Emergency services were called to Pendleton roundabout at around 12.40pm on Sunday (October 27).

A BMW smashed through the roundabout barrier and landed on its side on an underpass.

A 30-year-old women was pulled from the wreckage by members of the public and was taken to hospital.

Despite the best efforts of medics, she tragically died.

A 32-year-old man was also rescued by passers-by.

The man was said to have been fighting for his life in the hours following the crash. He remains in a serious, but stable condition, police said.

There was a huge emergency response on Sunday afternoon as police, firefighters and paramedics attended at the scene on Broad Street.

Pictures of the scene taken on Monday afternoon show the devastation left behind following the crash.

GMP are now urging eyewitnesses to come forward.

They are particularly looking to speak to those with dash cam footage.

DC Diana Dyer-Barron, of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "This is a tragic set of circumstances that has left a man fighting for his life in hospital and a woman sadly dead.

"Specialist officers are with their families and supporting them through this horrific time.

"This happened at a busy time of day, so I would like to take this opportunity to make a direct plea to anyone who may have seen anything that can assist our enquiries.

"We’re particularly keen to speak to anyone witnesses with dash cam footage who saw the BMW in the lead up to the collision.
