The sandwich shop selling the 'best lunch in Bristol' you need to try before you die

The humble sandwich. A go-to lunch, right?

It all seems like a great idea until the tomatoes make the bread soggy, the bread gets squashed in your bag on the way to work, or you just get sick of the tuna/cucumber combination you've been eating since you were five.

Enter: Sandwich Sandwich.

Here at Bristol Live, we are blessed with a Sandwich Sandwich in our building in 1 Temple Way,  but there are also branches in Baldwin Street and Cotham Hill.

Inside these humble cafes, lie arguably the best lunches in Bristol which everyone should try before they die.

The Bristol restaurant that you'll wish you could eat at every night

A sandwich or a baguette will set you back around £4-5, just a smidge more than your supermarket sandwich but 10 times as good.

Classic fillings like egg mayonnaise or tuna crunch would be a sensible choice, or there's a large selection of sandwich meats and cheeses you can use to create your own.

Chicken, too, comes in all varieties, jerk chicken, southern fried chicken, plain chicken or coronation. The only fault I can pick with Sandwich Sandwich is there are almost too many options, making choosing lunch feel like a near-impossible feat.

The Mexican restaurant which has to be one of the best places to eat in Bristol

The falafel, halloumi and roasted vegetable flatbread is one of my favourites, but the chilli flatbread is something truly special. Stuffed with either a bean chilli for vegetarians, or a meat chilli if you'd rather, this is a beast of a meal so big I have been known to have one half for lunch and save the other half for dinner.

The chicken, chorizo, spinach and basil pesto sandwich is popular among my colleagues, while the southern fried chicken, coleslaw and creole sauce is a sarnie known for being so filthy it often requires a knife and fork to eat.

Bristol-based restaurant chain shuts down three of its eateries

Sandwich stacks, jacket potatoes, savoury tarts and giant Scotch eggs (complete with still-runny yolks) are all on offer, too.

For those wanting a sweet treat with their lunch, the Sandwich Sandwich brownie has become somewhat of a legendary treat in the Bristol Live office.

Deliciously decadent, it's one of those brownies which manages to stay crispy on the outside but gooey in the middle - it's enormous and, quite frankly, a filthy treat.

THE VERDICT:

If you've forgotten your lunch, there is nowhere better in Bristol to get a sarnie. Sandwich Sandwich has got to make one of the best lunches you can get for a fiver.
