The salary you'll need to buy a home in different parts of Cardiff

Wales has seen the highest growth in house prices anywhere in Britain, and the Cardiff property market is seeing the effects of the spike.

And with the coronavirus pandemic affecting what people want combined with a growing market, it means that for first-time buyers it can be tricky to know exactly where you can afford.

Now property website Zoopla has looked at all the figures and worked out just how much you need to earn to buy a property across the capital.

The data shows a big difference across all the areas in the city with the lowest income needed of £21,000 compared to the highest topping out at £74,500.

Richard Golten from Purple Bricks says: "The market is particularly busy in Cardiff at mid-range value, especially family homes up to the value of around £400,000, although the whole market is affected."

The average price below refers to the median price of the property first time buyers were inquiring about via Zoopla during the last six months.
