The Saints tried to troll the Falcons with 28-3 Super Bowl highlights … while losing

In case you didn’t hear about it a thousand times since 2017, the Atlanta Falcons blew a 28-3 lead in the Super Bowl. They’ve spent the subsequent three seasons trying and failing to recreate the magic that got the Falcons to the Super Bowl, and no fanbase has enjoyed that failure more than the New Orleans Saints.

The Falcons went into Sunday’s game in New Orleans sitting at a putrid 1-7. By all accounts, the season for the Falcons is over. But something strange happened to these Atlanta Falcons against the rival Saints: They looked like a competent football team and discovered a pass rush. They stunned the Saints on their home field, handing New Orleans a 26-9 loss.

Note to the Saints, though: There are better times to troll your rival than when you’re losing in the fourth quarter to said 1-7 rival.

As the Saints were trailing those 1-7 Falcons by 14 points in the fourth quarter, the production team at the Superdome opted to show highlights from Super Bowl 51 — you know, just the Falcons blowing a 28-3 lead in the Super Bowl.

Yeah, that’s not the time.

Though unoriginal at this point, you’d want to get that troll attempt going early and especially not when you’re losing to a last-place team.

The loss would drop the Saints to 7-2 on the season.
