The Saints roasted Stephen A. Smith for saying their season was done after Drew Brees’ injury

When Drew Brees was sidelined with a thumb injury against the Rams, it was easy to write off the Saints. No team should get better after losing an MVP candidate at quarterback for multiple weeks.

But the Saints and head coach Sean Payton have not lost since Teddy Bridgewater filled in for Brees at starting quarterback. And you better believe that the Saints took note of who counted the team out when Brees went down.

Yeah, they’re looking at you, Stephen A. Smith.

Shortly after the Saints defeated the Bears for their fifth straight win on Sunday, the Saints Twitter account revisited a month-old First Take video from Smith. But wait for the end …

Smith said, “The Saints are done without Drew Brees. Period.”

The Saints went on to add a video of Michael Scott from The Office just laughing hysterically about the comment. Smith was wrong there, and he’ll certainly be wrong again. It’s kind of his thing.

And the news is getting even better for the Saints with Brees hoping to return for Week 8’s game against the Cardinals.
