Supermarket chain Sainsbury's has announced it is planning on closing 200 cafes in their stores in spring 2022.
The closed cafes will make way for a new dining-in option, The Restaurant Hub, where popular food chains like Ed's Diner and Slim Chickens will be rolled out in 30 stores.

Sainsbury's has now published a 'safe list' of the stores keeping their cafes and the Welsh stores listed are Pontypridd, Newport, Pontllanfraith, Rhyl and Wrexham. You can read the full list of UK stores keeping their cafes here.
The Welsh Sainsbury's stores that currently have a cafe and are missing from the 'safe list' are Colchester Avenue and Thornhill in Cardiff and the Swansea store, which suggests they will be losing their current dining facilities.
In a statement Sainsbury's said that those losing their jobs from the cafe closures will be prioritised for vacant roles in Sainsbury's stores and encouraged to explore alternative roles within the wider business.
In 2021, Sainbury's announced it would no longer sell CDs and DVDs. Now as part of the cafe closures, it will be closing less popular hot food counters in 34 stores and introducing 30 Starbucks coffee shops in other stores.
Simon Roberts, Sainsbury’s Chief Executive Officer said: "As we go through this period of transition, we have taken the difficult decision to close 200 of our cafes next month. We have spoken to all colleagues affected by these changes today and are absolutely committed to supporting them in any way we can during this uncertain time."
