The S4C commentary in the final moments of the Wales v Australia match is just perfect

Wales’ thrilling World Cup victory over Australia had Welsh rugby fans on their feet across the country.

And it was the same for the man commentating on the dramatic final moments for S4C out in Japan.

Wyn Gruffydd rose to his feet in the media area during the nerve-jangling conclusion as he counted down to the final whistle.

He lived every moment of the last play as the seconds ticked away and the gong sounded to signal a famous win.

And then, as he concluded his commentary for the Welsh language channel, he joined in the celebrations with triple fist-pumping delight.

Before signing off, he found just the right words to sum up the 29-25 victory which has put Warren Gatland’s men in pole position in Pool D.

“All of Wales is celebrating and it’s that man’s try [pointing at Gareth Davies appearing on the screen] that was the key try,” he said.

“We knew there’d be just one score in it and one score has been enough. It’s been a heroic performance by Alun Wyn Jones’s men. Wales are on their way.”

As S4C put it as they posted a link to a video of Gruffydd calling the victory: “In Wales, even our sports commentators are poets!”
