The rural house with an interesting past being sold by Irish Rail for bargain price

This rural house in Co Tipperary is about to go up for auction for just €62,000.

The interesting property, located in Bishopswood, Dundrum, is a one-bed and one-bathroom detached home.

And even more interestingly it's being sold by CIE, the company over Irish Rail, as the home has long been that of railway gatekeepers.

Running alongside the house is the Dublin to Cork train line so you'll probably need to have some interest in railways if you want to live here.

Inside you'll find an entrance porch, living/dining room, kitchen, inner hall, bedroom and bathroom.

And along with the property comes a one acre site making the price of just €62,000 that bit more attractive.

The house is set to go up for auction on October 29 at midday.

What about the location itself? Here's what the auctioneers had to say;

"Dundrum village lies in the townland of the same name, one of eight in the civil parish of Ballintemple.

"It is in the Electoral Division of Kilpatrick, in the Civil Parish of Ballintemple, in the Barony of Kilnamanagh Lower, in the County of Tipperary. The village itself is located 14 km (8.7 mi) west of Cashel at the junction of the R505 and R661 roads.

"The old Main Street (on the R505 road to Cashel) is in the eastern end of village and is the site of some new housing developments."
