The rules on moving house during second lockdown

People will still be able to move house during the second lockdown, the Housing Secretary has confirmed.

Robert Jenrick said members of the public will still be able to move, despite the stringent restrictions.

The minister tweeted on Saturday (October 31) to address a number of questions.

He wrote: "Q: Can I still move house?

"A: Yes – the housing market will remain open throughout this period.

"Everyone should continue to play their part in reducing the spread of the virus by following the current guidance."

 

He added: “Removal firms and estate agents can operate, construction sites can and should continue, tradespeople will be able to enter homes. But all must follow the Covid safety guidance.”

The following day Mr Jenrick added: " Housing market update ahead of Thursday’s measures:

"Renters & homeowners will be able to move.

"Removal firms and estate agents can operate.

"Construction sites can and should continue.

"Tradespeople will be able to enter homes.

"But all must follow the Covid safety guidance."
