Gardai have been policing roads more intensely in recent weeks as part of Operation Fanacht – the campaign introduced as part of Level Five measures.
And officers have been kept busy in the last few days, with a string of seizures and arrests across the country.
From a drug seizure worth over €18,000 to a driver caught with a false licence, here are some of the more dramatic incidents between Gardai and rule-breakers.
Driver caught with false licence in Longford
Longford Roads Policing Unit yesterday caught a driver with a false driving licence.
The car was seized, and the driver will face further proceedings.
Failed cannabis test in Naas
In Naas, a driver was found to have cannabis in their system at a recent checkpoint stop.
They were arrested – and could face a 12-month driving ban and a €5,000 fine to boot.
€18k worth of drugs found in car on N7
When Gardai stopped a vehicle at an Operation Fanacht checkpoint on the N7, they first discovered that the driver had no insurance or driver's licence.
And further inspection revealed €5,000 worth of cocaine in the car, on top of other controlled drugs worth €13,500.
Driver caught using tax and insurance from another car
Everything seemed in order when Gardai stopped a car in Naas yesterday – until officers realised that the vehicle's tax and insurance were from another car.
The car was seized, and proceedings will follow.
Uninsured motorist in Tallaght has car seized
On a busy Friday evening in Tallaght, Gardai impounded a car from an uninsured driver.
Court proceedings are on the way for the motorist, who must be wishing they'd never left the house.
