The Ruby Session at Doyle's pub make a comeback after 21 months

The Ruby Sessions are finally returning to Doyle's pub after 21 months.

The College Street music venue had been livestreaming gigs during the pandemic but have announced the return of their in-person shows, starting tomorrow night.

That gig is already sold out with Dubliners eager to speculate which special guests will make an appearance.

Paolo Nutini, Hozier and Glen Hansard have all played the Ruby Sessions stage with their names displayed proudly on the venue's walls.

Ed Sheeran played a secret gig in the iconic pub in July 2014, to the delight of 150 lucky punters.

He had previously played the venue in September 2011.

The gigs are usually held every Tuesday night and raise money for important Irish charities, like the Dublin Simon Community.

The founders took to Facebook to announce the return of the acoustic gigs.

They posted: "C’mere to me…… it’s been 21 months since the last in-person Rubys and to be quite honest, we miss you too much not to put shows on between now and Xmas. So, who wants to come to a gig this Tuesday?

"Expect special guests, love, good vibes, oh and Conor crying on stage while telling you all to shut the f*** up!

"See y’all there."

However, the pub's traditional Christmas sessions will be livestreamed again this year to fans watching on Facebook and Youtube.

They said: "Listen Linda, as much as we all want to be back in our squished and sweaty room, hearing 'I bet it's Ed Sheeran' 400 times, Christmas Ruby Sessions is going to be very different this year but we're still going to make it special.

"We'll be broadcasting LIVE! from our lovely Ruby Sessions room upstairs in Doyles Bar. We can't have a real life audience just yet but we will have VERY SPECIAL GUESTS."

The Christmas Ruby Sessions will be available to watch for free but guests are asked to donate what they can to the Dublin Simon Community.
