The Royal Mail is looking for posties in Manchester - here's how to apply and how much you can earn

The Royal Mail is hiring in Manchester so if you fancy yourself a job as a postie, this is for you.

The postal company is looking for a part-time postman or postwoman to take on the role based at the Middleton delivery office - and it comes with a decent wage.

The successful recruit, who needs to be able to drive, will work 27.5 hours a week, between 8:30am  and 14:40pm, five days per week (Monday to Saturday).

Those who aged 18+ will work for an hourly rate of £10.25 or £7.97 for those aged 17.

Employees will also get to enjoy a pay increase at six and 12 months into their role, providing they have a "satisfactory performance".

That means when you've been there six months the adult pay rises to £10.82 an hour then after a year £11.39 - but this is for those over 18.

The company also offer a weekly supplement of £25.16 (pro-rata) plus overtime and shift allowance if applicable for delivery work.

When discussing the role, the application form reads: "From scorching summer days to the depths of winter, our postmen and postwomen play a vital role, delivering the mail.

"It's a physically demanding job – but it's one the nation relies on."

The responsibilities associated with the role include sorting the mail for your route, check your vehicle before joining a colleague for your round and then spending between four and six hours delivering mail outdoors.
