The court of Napoleon III pose for a portrait at Fontainebleau in this photograph taken by Adolphe Braun on 24 June 1860. Louis-Napoleon Bonaparte was declared Emperor on this day in 1852 after instigating a coup d'état to overthrow the second republic a year before. The Emperor is in the boat with his son, Eugene, the Prince Imperial. This image is from the collection of Henrik Guttman a journalist, photographic agent and collector of 19th century photojournalism
