The Royal Babysitters: Babies Stink by Clementine Beauvais - review

Royal Babysitters

The book is about two girls called Anna and Holly. They wanted to earn £1,000 to buy a holiday so they got a job as babysitters to the royal family. They had to look after a boy called Pepino and 7 babies that were all called Bertie because Anna and Holly couldn't remember their names. The Berties kept finding crazy ways to escape like on a hummingbird or in an umbrella floating on the sea. Anna and Holly thought the job would be easy but they found they had to save Britland and fight off an invasion from King Alsasporiorick and his army of mermaids.

The book is full of little jokes. When they wanted to talk about one of the baby's cots it would be written first as "cage", then crossed out and written as a cot. They managed to fight off the giant robotic mermaid by firing a toxic nappy bin at it. One of King Alasporiorick's weapons was an exploding porcupine, which exploded spreading its prickles everywhere. In the end Prince Pepino was found riding around on the back of a naked porcupine which looked very funny.

The book was very funny because nothing turned out the way it was planned. But I won't tell you what happened in the end or it will spoil the surprise!
