The Rosewood fire: Punters forced to evacuate after fire breaks out at pub

Punters at a Somerset pub were forced to evacuate following a fire in the kitchen.

The Rosewood in Burnham-on-Sea reopened just two weeks ago after half of the pub was destroyed by a previous fire back in June 2019.

Somerset Live reports the small fire was caused by an electrical fault with the newly installed freezer and was 'swiftly' extinguished by staff members.

Firefighters were called to the scene as a precaution while guests were quickly told to leave the building.

A spokeswoman for the Rosewood has confirmed the pub is now 'open and trading as normal'.

She said: "An electrical fault in a newly installed freezer resulted in a small fire in the kitchen appliance at approximately 9pm last night.

"Although the team swiftly extinguished it we evacuated guests and called the fire brigade as a precautionary measure. We apologise to the guests inconvenienced last night.

"The pub is open and trading as normal this morning."
