When you were a kid, you probably wanted to live in a store. It felt like a universal dream back when I was growing up but then again, I just really remember watching Where the Heart Is. Now, Channing Tatum is doing it in Roofman.
Tatum plays a man named Jeff, who (true story) would rob restaurants by going through the roofs. He’s escaped from prison and is trying to find the best place to hide, which leads him to a hidden room in a Toys ‘R’ Us. If I had to pick a store to hide in, I would definition have chosen to hang out in a Toys ‘R’ Us, personally.
The film also stars Kirsten Dunst as Leigh, a woman who works at the store who is trying to be a good person and Jeff happens to fall in love with her. Which, you know, hard to take her back to his place when his place is, in fact, a hidden room where she works.
Roofman is described as follows: “Based on an unbelievable true story, Roofman follows Jeffrey Manchester (Channing Tatum), a former Army Ranger and struggling father who turns to robbing McDonald’s restaurants by cutting holes in their roofs, earning him the nickname: Roofman. After escaping prison, he secretly lives inside a Toys “R” Us for six months, surviving undetected while planning his next move. But when he falls for Leigh (Kirsten Dunst), a divorced mom drawn to his undeniable charm, his double life begins to unravel, setting off a compelling and suspenseful game of cat and mouse as his past closes in.”
Tatum seems to be having a lot of fun in the trailer for Roofman and it is really exciting to see him lean into his comedic side for this!
You can see Roofman when it hits theaters on October 10!
