The Rolling Stones release new song Living In A Ghost Town

The Rolling Stones have released their first new music since 2012, with a song that was finished while each band member was in isolation.

Writing for the new song, called Living In A Ghost Town, began before much of the world went into lockdown as part of sessions “recording some new material”, according to frontman Mick Jagger.

He added: “There was one song we thought would resonate through the times that we’re living in right now. We’ve worked on it in isolation. And here it is.”

The song, which has an eerie, paranoid swagger to it, features lyrics that seem pertinent to the pandemic: “Life was so beautiful/ Then we all got locked down/ Feel a like ghost/ Living in a ghost town.”

Guitarist Keith Richards said: “We cut this track well over a year ago in LA for a new album, an ongoing thing, and then s*** hit the fan.

“Mick and I decided this one really needed to go to work right now and so here you have it.”

It’s the band’s first fresh music since two new songs featured on the 2012 compilation Grrr!.

A video for the song will premiere on YouTube at 7pm. Check it out above.
