The Rolling Stones drop unreleased track featuring Jimmy Page

The Rolling Stones have unveiled a previously unreleased track featuring Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page.

The track, Scarlet, was recorded in October 1974, just over a year after the release of the Stones’ Goats Head Soup album.

It also features a contribution from Blind Faith’s Rick Grech, who plays bass on the song.

The song came about after Page was invited to a recording session with Keith Richards at The Wick, a house in Richmond. Ronnie Wood, who was living there at the time, had a studio in the basement.

“There was an invite to do a session. It was with Keith [Richards],” Page recalled. “[I said] ‘I tell you what, I’ll bring my guitar along and I’ll lay the solo parts on it.”

The song will feature as part of a forthcoming, newly expanded reissue of Goats Head Soup, which will feature unheard demos, outtakes, live performances and more. The release is set to arrive on September 4.

It comes after the Rolling Stones released Living In A Ghost Town back in April, their first new music since 2012.
