The role Bernard is playing in trying to persuade Andre Gomes to join Everton permanently

Everton fans love Andre Gomes. And his former Blues team-mates do too.

The Portugal international's future remains up in the air following the conclusion of his season-long loan deal at Goodison Park.

Returning to Barcelona, the midfielder will leave Camp Nou once again this summer with Marco Silva keen to retain his services.

However, Tottenham Hotspur were also said to be interested before withdrawing their approach while West Ham United have reportedly seen a bid rejected.

Barcelona are adamant their asking price must be yet, while Gomes is still yet to make to firm decision on where he wants to be next season.

Despite this, Everton remain favourites to land the Portugal international who played 29 times for the Blues last season.

And it's not just Silva and Toffees fans who are desperate for Gomes to return to Goodison - the rest of the Everton team are too.

Especially Bernard if a recent exchange on Instagram is anything to go by.

Commenting on a picture on the Brazilian's page, Gomes joked "Wow, what a pretty face", much to the amusement of Bernard.

The playmaker replied by saying "I miss you".

While the duo will remain friends regardless of who Gomes is playing for next season, you can be sure Bernard and the rest of the Everton camp are doing all they can to persuade the Portuguses to return to Goodison.

And with Richarlison and Joao Virginia also native-Portuguese speakers, and former Barcelona team-mates Yerry Mina and Lucas Digne permanent Blues players, a move to Everton would be like returning home for the popular Gomes.
