The roads closed near Cribbs Causeway as Premier Inn fire burns

There are road closures in Cribbs Causeway today (July 18) as a huge fire burns at a Premier Inn hotel .

More than 60 firefighters have been involved in tackling the blaze , which has been burning overnight.

The blaze started on the third floor shortly after 1pm yesterday (July 17) and spread to the roof, causing extensive damage to the building.

The front face of the hotel collapsed onto the A4108, which remains closed in both directions today (July 18).

The road is closed from B4055 Station Road to Lysander Road, which has also been closed to traffic.

A spokesman for Avon Fire and Rescue said this morning (July 18) that the road closures "will remain in place for some time".

Pictures taken this morning show the damage caused to the hotel, as well as smoke rising from the building and emergency services at the scene.

The images show the top floors of the building have completely collapsed, leaving the building gutted with debris littering the road.

The ambulance service told Bristol Live yesterday there were no reports of injuries.
