The roads closed for Bristol Pride and how to get from the parade to The Downs

Bristol Pride is nearly upon us and this year a major change has taken place.

In previous years the much anticipated march has progressed through the city centre and ended at Bristol Amphitheatre where party begins with a huge number of events for everyone to enjoy.

But this year Bristol Pride will be having its main event at The Downs so people will have to travel from the amphitheatre to the rest of the festivities.

It is to ensure the big event can double in size and cater for far more festival-goers.

As with any large event the day will cause significant disruption to traffic in the city as a number of roads are closed for the big day's parade.

See below the routes being closed in our interactive map, as well as the various ways you can get yourself from the amphitheatre to The Downs.

The route is two miles long and begins in Castle park before taking roughly an hour going around Broadmead, through Horsefair, through Baldwin Street and then down Anchor Road to Millennium Square.

A shuttle service is being run by Bristol University for everybody which will take people up to The Downs after the parade has finished.

This will run throughout the day.

First Buses 1,2,3 and 4 also run to The Downs. You can catch the bus from The Cenotaph or from College Green and is free for anybody with a Pride Supporter Wristband.

People are encourage to walk if they are able to ease congestion on the roads.

Parade-goers are also advised to stay off the pavements after the parade has finished.
