The 18th annual Asia Superyacht Rendezvous Cup (ASR Cup) will return for the third year to Sala Resort and Spa Phuket on Mai Khao Bay from Jan 18 until 20.
Hailed as the only regatta of its type in Asia, the private event is dedicated solely to invited superyacht owners and captains and crews. It will kick off with an opening-day cocktail party aboard one of the stunning attending vessels on Jan 18 at 7pm.
Starting at 10.30am, the race days on Jan 19 and 20 will see impressive luxury motor yachts in the fierce but friendly ocean sailing race for the third annual Winner's Cup. There will be an exclusive Owners Dinner on the first race day featuring culinary highlights prepared by international chefs. This is where guests can network and exchange news of what is happening in the yachting world.
Participating superyacht crews, meanwhile, will enjoy a festive party at the resort before they will break into groups and use plastic, sticks and fabric bits and pieces to invent a model sailing vessel capable of winning the wild and fun gutter-boat race called the Challenge.
The Race, Day 2, will begin with the race director's horn blast on a new course around Mai Khao Bay.
There will be a yacht parade at 2pm and a VIP gala dinner at 6.30pm. The Rendezvous is one of the few regattas in the world that allows both motor and sailing yachts to participate alongside one another.
Unlike many superyacht gatherings and regattas, the event is all about basking in a jolly, fun atmosphere where participation is encouraged.
