The Restaurant star Marco Pierre White has admitted he’s never watched a single episode of the hit Virgin Media One show.
The celebrity chef returned to Dublin at the weekend to meet producers and sign up for a new series in 2020.
The 58-year-old told the Irish Mirror: “It is a great show and I love doing it.
“I don’t do it for the money. I think that Rachel Allen has changed the dynamic and it really works.
“We get on really well together and I think she is my favourite dinner date and I find her funny.
“She is the only person who spat at me on TV. But I don’t watch it back, I have never seen an episode of the show in my life.
“I don’t know who the contestants are, I have never felt the need to watch myself on TV.
“I have never seen myself on TV. Why would I want to?
“It would be like looking in the mirror. It is not for me but I suppose they wouldn’t ask me back if it wasn’t working.”
Meanwhile, the top chef and restaurateur has admitted he is taken aback by the increasing number of people sleeping rough in Dublin.
He said: “I have noticed the homeless crisis.
“I had a chat with one of them this morning. I always talk to them.
“The Irish Government must do something because the reality is that if you are voted into power then you
have a duty and a responsibility to do something about it. In my opinion nobody should be on the streets.
“I am sure some of them have had difficulties.
“Some people are homeless by choice and have had struggles in their life.
“But what is obvious from talking to homeless people is they want to be acknowledged.
“It is not all about money or something to eat.
“I think what is most important for them is to be recognised and perhaps that is something to really think about this Christmas.”
