Bayern Munich have reportedly won the race to sign Paris Saint-Germain wonderkid Tanguy Kouassi.
The teenager, out of contract at the Parc des Princes at the end of the month [June 30] has been linked with the likes of Manchester City, RB Leipzig, Borussia Dortmund and AC Milan.
But it would appear that he's bound for the Allianz Arena to link up with countrymen Benjamin Pavard, Mickaël Cuisance, Lucas Hernandez, Corentin Tolisso and Kingsley Coman.
Reports claim Kouassi will sign a five-year contract with the Bundesliga giants and at 18 years of age, he could become a mainstay in the Bayern defence for the decade and a half.
This reported transfer could be fantastic news for Arsenal and Mikel Arteta.
In recent months there have been conflicting rumours about Bayern's interest in another central defender - RB Leipzig 'sDayot Upamecano - a player who is on the radar of the Gunners ahead of the summer transfer window.
Firstly, Bild reported that Upamecano had agreed to join RB Leizpig's Bundesliga rivals this summer. But Bayern were said to be unwilling to pay the defender's €60m (£52m) release clause.
However, Sky, stated Upamecano would not be joining Bayern this summer and instead he will his contract with RB Leipzig by a further year and it will include a release clause.
So with Bayern seemingly turning their attentions to Kouassi, Arsenal's path to sealing a deal for Upamecano has been cleared. Although, whether something happens this summer remains to be seen.
Amid rumours that £34m will be enough to convince RB Leipzig into selling Upamecano, his agent has recently stated that a summer move is unlikely.
"I don’t believe large transfers will take place this summer," Volker Struth, told German outlet Sport 1.
"And I think Upamecano is a player who will demand a large fee. So the statement has already been made."
