The Repair Shop's Jay Blades lands spin-off series which sees him build bespoke pieces

Restoration star Jay Blades has landed a spin-off to his feelgood hit The Repair Shop – making items from scratch for “deserving” people.

In Jay’s Workshop, on BBC2 later this year, he will help groups of volunteers build bespoke pieces.

The pieces will include everything from chairs to cabinets, to cocktail bars, for unsuspecting community heroes.

He told the Mirror: “So many people have given back to their communities. Now it’s time for my community workshop to give back to them.”

Busy Jay, 51, also presents the DIY show Jay and Dom’s Home Fix, on BBC1.

But back in 2015, he was homeless until a businessman helped him back on his feet.

Jay has been boosting people’s happiness since hosting The Repair Shop in 2017.

And production company Ricochet said: “We’re thrilled to be making this new big-hearted series that celebrates the joy of making with the pleasure of giving.”
