England's sensational victory over Denmark in Wednesday's Euro 2020 semi-final at Wembley may have included Kane's spectacular extra-time goal, but Twitter had other ideas of who the real hero of the match had been: Tiny Football Car.
A Volkswagen-branded remote control, which was used to deliver the match ball, has gained a cult following on social media with over 10k followers.
Before the game had even kicked off, the real man of the match had already sped across the pitch to huge cheers and many tweets.
The 1:5 scale model of of Volkswagen’s ID.4 electric car was first used in the opening game of the Euros last month.
Many fans were excited to see the car, which has its own verified Twitter and goes by @TinyFootballCar. It has popped up at games throughout the Euros with some fans branding it ‘iconic’ and one even going as far to say it should be awarded man of the match.
While it may not hold that title, Volkswagen is the official sponsor of the Match Ball Carriers, which this year includes Tiny Football Car.
It's popularity was only spurred on when Greg James, BBC Radio 1 presenter, created a copycat version to deliver the ball at Lord's.
In both Tuesday and Wednesday’s semi-finals the car was spotted again and caused even more of a reaction from fans, with one tweeting “I’m only watching for the #tinyfootballcar.”
Others suggested that the car be given more of a role in the games.
It won't be long until we see the little car again as Volkswagen have confirmed that Tiny Football Car will bring the match ball onto the pitch for the final on July 11.
