The remarkable trend Liverpool broke by winning the Champions League final

Liverpool claimed their sixth European title last weekend against Tottenham in a 2-0 win at the Wanda Metropolitano stadium in Madrid.

Mohamed Salah opened the scoring from the penalty spot after the ball struck Moussa Sissoko's arm inside 60 seconds.

With striker Divock Origi rounding off the historic win as he slotted home in the 87th minute.

Scenes of jubilation broke out as the final whistle blew as Jurgen Klopp's side were confirmed winners.

And remarkably, by winning their second Champions League title of this century - following victory in Istanbul in 2005 - Liverpool are the only team to triumph wearing a kit not designed by Adidas or Nike.

Since the 1999/00 campaign every champion has worn jerseys manufactured by the respective sporting brands.

On the Reds' famous night in Turkey they broke the trend by wearing Reebok.

And again on Saturday Liverpool donned New Balance in the Spanish capital to break a 13-year spell of winners exclusively wearing Nike and Adidas.

The last team to win not wearing shirts manufactured by either Adidas or Nike was Manchester United in 1999.

The Red Devils wore Umbro as they pulled off a late comeback to pry the trophy from the hands of Bayern Munich.

Liverpool's away kit for the 2019/20 season is set to be unveiled on Friday.

Their current deal with the American manufacturer is set to expire next summer.
