The Washington Redskins don’t seem to be in any rush to trade away veteran left tackle Trent Williams. This is nothing new, but Redskins’ fans have had a sense of urgency to get a deal done with the NFL Draft now taking place, and a desire to secure draft picks that are able to be used this year in return for Williams.
According to ESPN’s John Keim, Washington doesn’t feel like they have to move Williams this weekend, and they could be fine with letting this whole situation carry on throughout the summer once again. Of course, this could be a massive bluff to let teams know that they don’t plan to budge on their asking price of an early- to mid-round pick, but it’s impossible to know that for sure.
As of now, the only known team who is in the running for Williams is the Minnesota Vikings, who have a surplus of draft capital that they would have to move in order to get Trent on their roster. There are reportedly two other teams who have shown interest, but they are still unknown to the general public. All of this could uncertainty could change in an instant if one of those teams puts together a solid offer for the Redskins, who may be inclined to ship Williams away in lieu of a valuable pick in this years’ draft. However, there’s a good chance this ordeal carries on throughout the coming summer months once again.
