The Red Pyramid by Rick Riordan - review

The first book of The Kane Chronicles is nothing but a delight. That is if you love Egyptian mythology.

Like the Percy Jackson novels, Rick Riordan sets up a world where the gods of an ancient civilisation have come back into the modern world. (Percy Jackson, Heroes of Olympus: Greek and Kane Chronicles: Egyptian)

Carter and Sadie Kane have horrible luck: their father used the Rosetta Stone to unleash Egyptian Gods from their entrapment, but in doing so, the spirit of Osiris enters his body.

From there they learn many things: That they are the most powerful magicians alive, that they must defeat a god who has managed to trap their father, that (pretty much) the only company they will have for their journey is a baboon, and that Sadie's cat is the god of all cats.

All in all, this the most enjoyable book I have read in a long time. If you want to find info on lots of Egyptian things but don't want to be bored, then this is the book for you!
